Súd je v tom, že svetlo prišlo na svet, ale ľudia milovali väčšmi tmu než svetlo, lebo ich skutky boli zlé. Veď každý, kto robí zle, nenávidí svetlo a nejde na svetlo, aby jeho skutky nevyšli najavo. Kto však koná pravdu, ide na svetlo, aby sa ukázalo, že jeho skutky sú vykonané v Bohu.“
