Prečo si znevážil Hospodinovo slovo a dopustil sa toho, čo sa mu nepáči? Chetitu Uriáša si dal odstrániť mečom a privlastnil si si jeho ženu. Jeho samého si dal zabiť mečom Ammónčanov. Odteraz už meč nikdy neobíde tvoj dom, lebo si ma znevážil a privlastnil si si ženu Chetitu Uriáša.‘ Takto vraví Hospodin: ‚Dopustím na teba pohromu, čo bude z tvojho vlastného domu. Pred očami ti odnímem tvoje ženy a dám ich tvojmu blízkemu. Ten bude s nimi ležať za bieleho dňa. Ty si konal tajne, ja to však urobím pred celým Izraelom a cez deň.‘“ Vtedy povedal Dávid Nátanovi: „Zhrešil som proti Hospodinovi.“ Nátan odpovedal Dávidovi: „Hospodin ti odpustil tvoj hriech, nezomrieš. Pretože si tým popudil Hospodinových nepriateľov k rúhaniu, zomrie syn, ktorý sa ti narodí.“
