Building Intimacy

Focus

Gratitude: Thank God for one small joy you’ve recently shared with your loved ones.

Listen

Scripture: Psalm 127:3 (NRSV)

"Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him."

Reflection:

Family is not only meant for shared beliefs but also shared life. Intimacy grows in small, sacred moments—laughing over a meal, sharing stories, praying together, walking through conflict with grace. Faith is nurtured in these spaces where young people feel deeply known and unconditionally loved. Intimacy teaches young people that God’s love is not distant or theoretical—it is embodied in the relationships that hold them steady as they grow. In a world that often isolates and fragments, family intimacy becomes one of God’s most powerful gifts.

Apply

What’s one way you can nurture connection and intimacy in your family this week?

Respond

God of tenderness, teach us to delight in one another. Let our homes be places of laughter, honesty, healing, and grace where your love is made visible.

Faith Formation Framework Series 4: Faith Catalyzed by Family Intimacy and Intentionality

The idea of “family” is different in many cultures. It was even different in the many cultures that made up the Biblical world! It can be broken, whole, or something in between, even in the Bible. However, one thing has remained constant: family is formative for every human being. Through Jesus, we are adopted into the family of faith that God creates. Whatever our families look like, Christians are trying to live as a part of God’s Divine family in many different ways. That’s what we will discuss this week.
