Family Worship

Focus

Mindfulness: Picture your loved ones gathered for a moment of shared prayer, song, or Scripture.

Listen

Scripture: Joshua 24:15 (NRSV)

"As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."

Reflection:

Worship is not limited to church services. In daily life, worship can take many shapes—reading Scripture together, praying before meals, singing songs, lighting candles during Advent, or simply naming God’s goodness aloud. These shared practices create a spiritual rhythm that shapes both adults and children. Family worship reminds young people that God is not confined to specific buildings but is moving in every corner of life. Simple, repeated acts of shared devotion plant seeds of faith that continue to grow across generations.

Apply

What simple form of family worship or prayer might you do this week?

Respond

Lord, be at the center of our home. Shape our rhythms so that worship becomes as natural as breathing, drawing us closer to you and to one another.

Faith Formation Framework Series 4: Faith Catalyzed by Family Intimacy and Intentionality

The idea of “family” is different in many cultures. It was even different in the many cultures that made up the Biblical world! It can be broken, whole, or something in between, even in the Bible. However, one thing has remained constant: family is formative for every human being. Through Jesus, we are adopted into the family of faith that God creates. Whatever our families look like, Christians are trying to live as a part of God’s Divine family in many different ways. That’s what we will discuss this week.
