Making the Most of Your Marriage; a 7-Day Healing Journey

DAY 6 OF 7

Topic: Parent in harmony

"A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."— Proverbs 13:22a

Your marriage is not just about you and your spouse alone; it is a covenant designed by God to impact generations as a legacy. The way you live out your marriage becomes a model for your children and for generations yet to come.

It is easy to believe the devil’s lie that “your marriage is yours alone; your children will build theirs differently.” God’s grand design is bigger because your marriage is interwoven into the threads of theirs.

So when you do marriage, be sure to live consciously in the presence of your children, knowing that you are the model for the generation you birth.

If you quarrel and exchange words in the presence of your kids, please stop it. You are modelling dishonor to them. When they see misunderstandings by any chance, please give them the joy of seeing reconciliation and restoration. This teaches them that unity is possible even after disagreement. Every word, every action, every moment of forgiveness becomes a seed planted in their hearts.

Be conscious about creating positive patterns for them to emulate. Keep the image of unity going, and never use them as weapons. There is no competition for best parent, but there sure is a prize for intentional and purposeful parenting.

Prayer: Lord, help us to see marriage not only as our union but as Your inheritance for generations. Teach us to model love, forgiveness, and unity before our children. May our home reflect Your covenant, and may our legacy be one of faithfulness and intentional love, in Jesus' name. Amen.
