Making the Most of Your Marriage; a 7-Day Healing Journeyਨਮੂਨਾ

Topic: Marriage will be hard on your flesh
Galatians 5:16-17 “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit…”
Marriage will challenge your flesh and confront your pride, your impatience, your selfishness, and your need to be right. If your flesh is not ready to die, and if you’re not willing to lay down your ego and control, then your marriage will feel like a battlefield instead of a blessing.
Marriage is not for the faint-hearted; it is for the surrendered. When you allow God to shape you through the refining fire of marriage, you begin to be more like Him. God didn’t design marriage to punish you; He designed it to purify you. So if you and your spouse are not being transformed daily into the likeness of God, then it’s time to reevaluate how you’re conducting the affairs of your marriage. It may be that either or both of you are resisting the refining process and clinging to pride, entitlement, or selfishness.
In my years of counseling couples, and even in my own journey, many spouses struggle to release their long-standing limiting beliefs in order to embrace a deeper connection with their spouses. You may have experienced deep trauma around love, trust, or even fidelity. While these experiences are valid, they may be negatively shaping how you respond, protect yourself, and relate to your spouse.
I am here to tell you that until you drop all this baggage, you won't be able to enjoy your marriage because unhealed wounds will poison your marriage.
Prayer: Lord, help me to recognize the baggage I carried into my marriage. Give me the courage to release it and the grace to heal, so I can walk in wisdom and be transformed to be more like you. Please let my marriage reflect Your peace, not my past in Jesus’ name. Amen.
