Kill Your Pride: An 8-Day Brave Coaches Journeyਨਮੂਨਾ

Walk Humbly
Walking in humility is not a box you check—it’s a way of living that transforms every aspect of your leadership, relationships, and influence. Men, here’s the honest truth: pride is a master of disguise, ready to slip back into our lives in moments of strength and success. That’s why humility is a daily pursuit. Authentic greatness comes from walking humbly before God, not seeking the applause or approval of others.
Remember the story Jesus told about the Pharisee and the tax collector (Luke 18:9-14)? The Pharisee boasted about his own achievements, praying loudly so everyone might notice. But the tax collector—a man judged and marginalized—stood in the shadows, pounding his chest in honest repentance: “God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” Jesus said it was this man, not the prideful religious leader, who went home justified before God. True humility isn’t about pretending you’re weak or insignificant—it’s about recognizing your total dependence on God for everything you have and every victory you win.
The Brave Truth: Leadership rooted in humility often looks like this: inviting honest feedback (even when it stings), admitting your mistakes, promoting others before yourself, and willingly serving in the unseen places.
The world might call this weakness, but God calls it wisdom and strength. Think about Pastor Bill Wilson, who drove a Sunday School bus through the most dangerous streets of the Bronx because he believed lost kids mattered to God. Or David, a shepherd boy made king—not because he looked the part, but because he led with a humble servant's heart (see 1 Samuel 16:7).
Humility destroys the lie of comparison. King Saul and Paul are perfect examples. King Saul, “the significant one,” lost everything trying to protect his own image; Paul, whose name literally means “little,” changed the world by making himself small so Christ could be seen as great (Galatians 6:3–4).
Humility also frees you from false humility. Beware of the trap—boasting in your humility or refusing correction. As William Law said, “You can have no greater sign of confirmed pride than when you think you are humble enough.” It’s authenticity and vulnerability that set you apart as a leader. Be real with God and honest with trusted men in your life—let iron sharpen iron.
Action Steps:
- Get Feedback: Schedule a time this week to ask for honest feedback from a colleague, team member, or family member. Listen carefully—don’t justify or defend.
- Serve someone in secret. Take on a lowly or unnoticed task that benefits others.
- Each day, pray this simple prayer: “Lord, help me see where pride is hiding and teach me to walk in humility.”
Reflection Questions:
- In what situations are you tempted to project a false humility—to look humble on the outside, but resist correction or vulnerability?
- Who are the humble leaders you admire most? What specific actions or attitudes make them stand out?
- Where do you sense God calling you to act justly, love mercy, or walk humbly—especially when it’s uncomfortable or inconvenient?
True legacy begins the moment you stop building your own kingdom and start advancing God’s. Humility is the foundation for every lasting impact. Will you choose it, today?
