Two Sides of Humility: Service and Teachability

In the world of leadership, it’s tempting to chase the next title or trophy—a bigger office, a louder applause, recognition that feels like oxygen to our egos. The world screams, “Climb the ladder.” But Jesus commands us to “carry a towel.” This reveals the first side of powerful humility: servant leadership. A true leader isn’t the one sitting at the head of the table; he’s the one who sets the table for others. When leaders choose the “dirty work” without fanfare—like the CEO who quietly picks up trash from the office floor—they send a clear message: “No job is beneath me, because no person is beneath me.”

The Brave Truth: True impact comes from service not titles.

The second, equally critical side of humility is teachability. A leader’s growth is directly proportional to his willingness to learn. Pride convinces you that your cup of knowledge is full, leaving no room for new ideas, constructive feedback, or God’s wisdom. A proud heart is a closed-off heart.
