God's Plans

DAY 9 OF 21

09. Let the Morning Bring

How: God’s plans reflect His character

Lectio. “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” (Psalm 143:8, NIV – read Ps. 143:7–10).

Meditatio. In the last psalm attributed to David, the author expressed deep emotional suffering. Oppressed, depressed, anxious, distressed, and with feelings of death, he cried out for guidance.

Oratio. Like the psalmist, make your plea for care, guidance, deliverance, and instruction because of who God is for you: the One you trust, to whom you surrender, in whom you take refuge, the only One you worship.

Contemplatio. Remember the days of long ago, all that God has done in history and in your own life. This moment is not an isolated case. God is fulfilling a great plan, and you are part of it.

Confessio. In emotional suffering, I tend to be egocentric, like every human being. When I suffer, I can lose sight of who God is and His wonderful plan for me. But deliverance comes by turning back to Him and remaining in Him.
