Radical Generosity

I sat in a gathering of believers from South/Central America, and they spoke about a bold vision: mobilizing 20,000 more churches for global mission. What struck me wasn’t just the size of the dream but the cost they were willing to bear to see it happen.

Story after story emerged of ordinary believers giving sacrificially. Where individuals earn on average less than $30/day, these believers are investing more than $250 million annually in global missions efforts. Not because of tax incentives or out of compulsion, but out of joy that the Gospel would go where Christ is not yet named.

It reminded me of the picture in Acts 2: “All the believers were together and had everything in common… They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need… And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Their generosity wasn’t separate from evangelism—it was evangelism. It bore witness to a God whose love is extravagant and whose Kingdom is worth everything.

Radical generosity is not measured by the size of the gift, but by the size of the sacrifice and the joy behind it. God loves a cheerful giver. When we release our treasure, our hearts follow.

If you want your heart to love and value the Gospel, then put your treasure there. Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
