Faithful in the Ordinary

In a closed nation in Central Asia, I sat with a group of business leaders. Their context is one where the law is clear: faith cannot be shared outside church walls. It’s even illegal to share the Gospel with minors, including their own children. Yet there they were, filled with joy, reflecting on the hope of Christ and their desire to see His name known across their nation.

One brother stood, his voice steady with conviction. “We know the struggles of our people,” he said. “We know their need for hope and salvation. We cannot stand on the street corners and proclaim. So our businesses must become the point of the spear. We must show Christ to our employees, customers, and suppliers. Every interaction must carry eternal weight.”

His words burned in me. He wasn’t looking for a platform. He wasn’t asking for freedom to preach loudly. He was committed to living faithfully in the ordinary, believing that even in contracts, conversations, and daily labor, the Gospel can be seen.

Paul wrote from prison to the church in Colossae: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Every task, every word, every choice becomes an act of worship when surrendered to Christ.
