30 Scripture Based Prayers for Your Marriageਨਮੂਨਾ

Holy Spirit, help us understand each other’s hearts.
Two Valentine’s days in a row, I got a new skillet.
My husband has been deployed or on a military mission for the last two Februarys. But, fear not, he had gifts sent to me. The first time I received my skillet, the handle was hanging out of a box that had been taped and stretched and hardly resembled the prepaid rectangular box you purchase at USPS. I giggled, and I was truly so appreciative. I cook a lot, and he knew my pan had seen better days and here he was, thousands of miles away, to the rescue.
This year, I got another skillet. Didn’t quite have the same effect. Even my teenage daughter said, “Oh no he didn’t! Again?!”
Ya’ll, his heart was good and in the right place, but how often do I miss it because I don’t understand it, or I’m offended, or I’m frustrated with another situation and process his decision through the lens of what others have done or are doing around me?
It takes wisdom that only the Lord can give to see the true heart and motives of our spouse. They are not always going to say the right thing, buy the right gift, or respond the right way. But with wisdom because of his grace, we can see past the “deep waters” of a person’s heart described in Proverbs 20:5 (NIV), and we can gain insight that gives us better understanding. With that better understanding will come deeper connection and intimacy!
Today's Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, we know that only you can truly know the heart of man and the desires of our hearts, but we pray that you would give us wisdom to see and understand one another better.

About this Plan

Bringing your marriage before the Lord is both powerful and redemptive. When two imperfect people stand on Scripture and invite God to strengthen their bond, they build a defense the enemy cannot break. What a gift to know God is for your marriage, and for you. These next 30 days are an invitation to declare his Word over your relationship and trust him with what only he can do: protect, grow, and fortify your marriage from the inside out.
