Day 4 – Drawing Out the Heart

Devotional:
Sometimes we think intimacy is all about big romantic gestures, but true closeness often starts with something much simpler: listening. Your husband carries deep waters inside—dreams, worries, unspoken prayers, even fears he may not know how to put into words. And sometimes, life moves so fast that we stop asking, stop listening, and stop drawing each other out.

Proverbs reminds us that a wise person learns how to draw out what’s hidden. That might mean asking gentle questions like, “How are you really?” or “What’s been on your mind lately?” It might mean giving space for silence without rushing to fix or respond. Just your presence, your patience, and your attention can make your husband feel safe enough to open up.

When we lean in to listen, we remind our spouse that they are seen, valued, and loved. And as hearts are shared, emotional intimacy grows—and emotional intimacy is the soil where physical and spiritual closeness thrive.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to be a wife who listens with both patience and compassion. Teach me not to rush past my husband’s heart but to make space for him to share what’s deep inside. Give me wisdom to respond with kindness, and help me reflect Your love as I draw him out. Amen.

Ask your husband one thoughtful question today that goes beyond surface talk. Then really listen—without interrupting, judging, or trying to solve. Just listen with love.
