3 - LORD'S PRAYER - the Lord´s Requirements

DAY 14 OF 17

14 – In Me!

Let us reflect together on this: For God’s will to be done on earth, it must first be done in me. Isn’t that true?

The Bible gives us illustrations of how God works to shape His will in us. One well-known example is that of the potter, the craftsman who makes vessels. He takes an insignificant lump of clay and works it into a beautiful work of art, according to his will and skill.

But then comes a question: What if this creation does not turn out well?

In Jeremiah 18:1-6 (NIV), we read:

“This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: ‘Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.’ So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said, ‘Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?’ declares the Lord. ‘Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.’”

I invite each of you to reflect on this text during the week; we will continue with it in our next meditation.

About this Plan

3 - LORD'S PRAYER - the Lord´s Requirements

The well-known Lord's Prayer, taught by Jesus to his disciples, can be divided, for study purposes, into two parts. The first addresses God's demands: his dwelling, his person, his kingdom, and his will. The second half addresses humanity's demands: their needs for bread, forgiveness, and deliverance. Let us, in this context, address the first part of the prayer.
