Life in the community of the King

Two or three people who come together in the name of Jesus, called for a specific purpose on mission for the King, produce a unique way of living.

When the King comes near and becomes our King, we submit our lives under his authority and rule. We want what he wants. We want to do what he does. We want to imitate him. We want to act like him. We want to live by his rules. We want to please him.

Thom Wolf raised the question: What is the best way to live life on the planet? My answer is plain and simple. It’s the Jesus way.

It’s Jesus who showed us how to live and how to treat others the way we want to be treated. Jesus showed us how to love those difficult to love. He also showed us how to respect women and value cultures different from our own. Jesus showed us how to offer grace and mercy and how to forgive the person who offended us.

He demonstrated compassion for the crowds, healing for the sick, and food for the hungry. He taught that we should love our enemies and bless those who persecute us. He provided an ethic that has stood the test of time.

Hope is a possibility in the community of the King. When hope shines brightly, people sense peace is near. How does peace become a possibility for people in pain, turmoil, loss and discouragement? How can we access that sense of peace amid the storm?
