Hope Now: 27 Days to Peace, Healing, and Justice

DAY 6 OF 27

Community of the redeemed

The community of the redeemed is a group of two or more people who know they are sinners. They know they’re sinners who need a Savior, a Redeemer.

In the community of the redeemed, you know you’re loved. You know your Creator values you. You know you’re accepted despite your sins, your flaws, and your imperfections. In this community, you know you get what you don’t deserve, and you don’t get what you do deserve.

A key to this kind of community and to membership in the Kingdom is the quality of the relationship with the King. Love is at the heart of the good life. A love for God and a love for our neighbors are linked.

In this community, Jesus comes near. Jesus gathers redeemed people who have been called out of darkness into the light: these people are formed into churches. The word for church in the New Testament Greek is eklesia, coming from two Greek words: ek, meaning “out of” and klesia, from kaleo, meaning “called.” The church is the “called out” people – called out from darkness into the light.

The church, which is the community of the redeemed, is where we find genuine, authentic relationships focused on a special mission with a special purpose.

Questions for Reflection:

  • What is community and how important is it to you?
  • What does living in community of the redeemed, of the kingdom, mean to you?

About this Plan

Hope Now: 27 Days to Peace, Healing, and Justice

Is there a wall between meeting the practical needs of people and meeting their spiritual needs? Can you only meet one or the other? Learn how these needs are two sides of the same coin and how both are not only doable but must be done. Additionally, experience how to find your kingdom purpose - and how that can bring hope and healing to others.
