Hope Now: 27 Days to Peace, Healing, and Justice

DAY 24 OF 27

The kingdom near you

The kingdom of God is near you because the King is in you. The King of Glory, the Prince of Peace, Jesus Himself, through His Spirit lives in you if you have placed your trust and faith in Him as your Lord and Savior. Where the King lives is where His kingdom exists. He is your King, your Lord, and your leader.

Apostle Paul wrote, “For, ‘Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?’ But we have the mind of Christ" (1 Corinthians 2:16 NIV). We have the potential to think like the King as a part of His kingdom.

After all, we can commune with God, understand His will, and grasp the foundational truths expressed in Scripture. The kingdom is near because we have the potential to think like citizens of the kingdom. We want to do as the King does. We want to think like He thinks.

We can think like He thinks because we have His mind in us. But do we? Do the objects of hope, peace, healing, and justice for other predominate our thinking, or do other, more earthly pursuits predominate our thinking?

We live in two worlds simultaneously, but which one prevails in our thoughts? We are all dual citizens of the kingdom and of the country in which we live. What happens when they collide? Which one rules? When conflict arises, where is our ultimate loyalty?

The best scorecard of our priorities appears in our spending of time, money, and energy.

Question for Reflection:

  • What would your scorecard say about your loyalty to your King and His kingdom?
