Stop Living in Your Head: Capturing Those Dreams and Making Them a Reality

DAY 2 OF 5

We all Have a Ministry

If you have received Jesus Christ as your Savior and have been baptized, you have received the Holy Spirit, AND you have entered the ministry. Yes, that’s right. We all have a commission or ministry as Christ-followers. I love what Kris Vallotton often says, “When you accept Jesus and are born again, you have entered the ministry. You may suck at it, but you’ve entered the ministry.” It’s hilarious, of course, the way he tells it, but it’s true. Does this mean we are all to stand behind a pulpit and preach a sermon every week? Absolutely not! Ephesians 4:11 tells us how some are called to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors, and some teachers. Some of the greatest ministries I can think of take place in the home. Parents who instruct their children about the ways of God are teachers and highly favored in His eyes. Sometimes our ministry is simply living and working as an example to others and serving wherever we see a need.

Merriam-Webster defines “to preach” as “to advocate earnestly.” It is not necessarily within the confines of a building. Any time we share our testimony, we are advocating for the Kingdom of God. We are to strive to live as Christ lived, which means doing everything in our power to lead others to Him. He left us with all the power, authority, and spiritual gifts to achieve that goal.

“I solemnly instruct you to proclaim the Word of God and stand upon it no matter what! Rise to the occasion and preach when it is convenient and when it is not. Preach in the full expression of the Holy Spirit with wisdom and patience as you instruct and teach the people.” (II Timothy 4:2, TPT)

I know many of us have a burning passion to serve the Lord. We are not satisfied with a “once a week” church service. Does this describe you—are you living in your head? Are you thinking about ways to accomplish more for the Kingdom? Do you hear about events or activities being sponsored by others and think, “Man, I would love to be a part of something like that!” If so, stop living in your head and take steps to become actively involved in spreading the Word. Pray earnestly for direction, then take a step out of your comfort zone and follow His lead. You’ll be so glad you did. Your faith will increase, joy will return, and most of all, you’ll be a part of making sure satan does not add another soul to his army. Is it easy? No, it is not, and there will be challenges, setbacks, disappointments, etc., but the outcome is so worth it!

We are so blessed at this time in history to have a vast audience at our fingertips with social media. Some suggestions of ways we can reach others are:

  • Start a blog and share your experiences and how you overcome the struggles of each day.
  • Hold a book or bible study in your home or go live online. This is one of the things the Lord showed me to do a couple of years ago, and it has been amazing. We meet weekly on Zoom.
  • Start a separate Facebook page just for your ministry. Post scriptures of encouragement or share testimonies of overcoming there.
  • Build an email list and send out a periodic newsletter with the same type of encouraging messages as mentioned above.
  • Set up a YouTube channel to make videos to speak about different spiritual topics.

The list can go on and on. Once you commit by telling the Lord you are a willing vessel and ask Him to use you to advance His Kingdom, you'll be amazed at the talents and ideas He will inspire in you. You just have to decide to be actively involved in co-laboring with Christ. There is no better place to be. The rewards are immense when you see your efforts building confidence and freedom in others.
