Don't Quitਨਮੂਨਾ

When you want to quit because you’re…impatient
When I was in my 20s and 30s, I found myself in similar difficult situations no matter the job I was doing. I would often complain to my wife about it. Until I realized the reason I kept ending up in the same situations was that whenever something got uncomfortable, I was looking for the exit plan to relieve the tension and escape the pain of growth. In God’s grace, he kept me in the refiner’s fire until the impurities that needed to be removed were gone.
In Galatians, patience is identified as one of the fruits of the Spirit. It has taken me a long time to realize that my problem hasn’t been a lack of patience; it has been a lack of surrender to the Holy Spirit. The more the Holy Spirit has control of my life, the more fruit of the Spirit is evident and manifest.
You may be in a place of impatience that is tempting you to look for the exit plan. You are looking to quit. Your problem isn’t not enough patience, it is not enough Jesus! So, impatience is a gift from God because it is an invitation to surrender something you are holding onto that is pushing out the Holy Spirit in your life.
Keep Going. Don’t Quit.
Questions to Consider
- What situations do you keep finding yourself in that are challenging or stretching for you?
- What do you think is edging the Holy Spirit out that you need to surrender?
Actions to Take
- Recognize and acknowledge your impatience and the place it is coming from.
- Thank God for the opportunity to trust the Holy Spirit more in your life.
Prayer to Make
Holy Spirit, I want to be more yielded to you so that you are filling me up to overflowing. Show me the places and the ways I am resisting you, so your fruit is blocked from being in my life. As best I know how, I surrender to you right now. Fill me to overflowing with your fruit. Amen.

About this Plan

Do you feel like you are stuck and discouraged? Are you ready to give up? Hypomone is the Greek word for Steadfast Endurance. It’s the “Don’t Quit” challenge. We face a lot of temptations and reasons to give up. If you find yourself in that place, open your mind up to hear from God’s Word on why you should keep pressing forward. Don't quit because you're tired, bored, burned out, confused by an obstacle, distracted, impatient, or in conflict with someone.
