The Thief of Everythingਨਮੂਨਾ

Have you ever attempted to plan for something? You may be aware that a significant expense is approaching, so you begin saving money to be prepared for it. Or maybe you’re looking forward to a vacation, so you start accumulating the items you need to travel ahead of time to stay on top of it. Perhaps you know you need to have a difficult conversation with your child, so you spend time thinking about the words you want to say and how you hope to respond. Whatever it is, the truth is, there’s value in planning. Yes, it’s even true with comparison!
We’ve all dealt with comparison before, and we’ll all deal with it again! That’s why it’s essential to think about how we want to respond to it before we’re in it. If we allow ourselves to compare, we focus on those lies instead of the truth of God. But if we choose to lean instead on God’s power—if we believe God’s words about who we are and who God is—we’ll find the strength to overcome those lies. We’ll be better prepared to fight comparison when we’ve planned for it ahead of time. This week, come up with that plan! Write down a few ways you want to combat comparison in your life (and remember, celebration is a great place to start!).

About this Plan

It’s easy to get caught up in comparison. We compare our thoughts, words, actions, relationships, and even our faith. Chances are, if we’re honest, we’d admit that comparison makes us feel a lot worse. It has the potential to steal our joy, self-image, peace, success, and faith. That’s because comparison is a thief. As we’ll see in this series, we’ll look at the secret to breaking the cycle of comparison.
