The Thief of Everythingਨਮੂਨਾ

Do you recall your childhood? Look, we know that wasn’t all that long ago! Maybe a better question is this: Do you remember a time when being young held you back? Too young to drive, too young to date, too young to vote, too young to make a difference—so many of us probably can answer that question easily! The point is, we all remember what it feels like to be disqualified based on something we can’t control. If we’re honest, this doesn’t just happen when we’re young! Every single day, we find ourselves trying to prove our worth or measure up to expectations. When the world tries to disqualify us because of something we don’t have or seem to lack, we push forward, trying to prove that we are, in fact, enough. But what if that didn’t matter? What if, instead of letting ourselves be disqualified or looked down on, we chose to believe we were more capable than anyone else might think?
Paul’s letter to his young friend Timothy here encouraged him to do just that. Rather than let others influence his perception of himself and his capabilities because of his youth, Paul told Timothy to refuse to take on anyone’s belief that he was less than or looked down on. And for us, the same can be true today! Whatever it is that tells us we’re not enough, we can reject it in favor of the belief that God has made us and will equip us to do whatever He’s called us to do. This week, ask God to remind you of all the things He’s given you that make you more than qualified to take on any task or purpose He’s set before you in this life.

About this Plan

It’s easy to get caught up in comparison. We compare our thoughts, words, actions, relationships, and even our faith. Chances are, if we’re honest, we’d admit that comparison makes us feel a lot worse. It has the potential to steal our joy, self-image, peace, success, and faith. That’s because comparison is a thief. As we’ll see in this series, we’ll look at the secret to breaking the cycle of comparison.
