Most 1950s fallout shelters were pretty basic. A few cots or bunk beds, a table and some chairs, maybe a camp stove, a first-aid kit, emergency candles, and lots of canned goods and water.

But fast-forward to our present day, and fallout shelters not only have enough food to feed Pharaoh’s army, but they also have custom floors and carpet, luxury bedrooms and living areas, granite countertops, and fancy kitchens that are stocked and equipped to turn out Michelin-starred cuisine. Still, regardless of how fancy an underground bunker is, living underground for an unspecified period of time while hoping to emerge someday to a dystopian landscape isn’t all that appealing.

Sweet Spoonful: God gave us the book of Revelation to let us know what truly lies ahead for us, and it’s as dystopian as dystopian can get. The Antichrist. The mark of the Beast. Martyrdom. Wars. Plagues. Starvation. Earthquakes. Asteroids. Darkness. Demon locusts…to name a few. But the good news is the good news! The safest place to be is under the shadow of God’s wing, and salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ won’t cost you a thing.
