Power On!ਨਮੂਨਾ

One of the most striking things about Joshua 3 is the reminder that God’s holiness—His very presence—was always with His people. The Ark of the Covenant was a visible sign of this, a reminder that the Israelites didn’t have to reach for God’s presence; He had already come to them. Even as they stood at the edge of the Jordan, before they stepped into the land He had promised, God was already there—going before them, making a way.
But imagine how the Israelites must have been feeling. They had spent an entire generation in the wilderness. Their parents had died along the way. Though they knew they had been rescued from slavery in Egypt, most of them wouldn’t have remembered it firsthand. It would have been easy to doubt—who is this God? Where is He leading us? Is this really going to be good?
And then, right before their eyes, the waters of the Jordan parted, just as the Red Sea had a generation before. The wilderness journey had begun with a miraculous crossing, and now, as they stepped into a new season, God was reminding them again: I am with you, just as I was with Moses. It was the dawning of a new era, a moment that echoed the past but also pointed forward to a greater rescue to come.
Just as the Israelites had once come to Egypt to be saved from famine, then later left Egypt to be saved from slavery, we too have been rescued—rescued from our sin by Christ. And just as God was with the Israelites in their journey, He is with us in ours.
What wilderness are you staying in, uncertain if God will be with you when you step forward?
Take a moment to recall where God has already gone before you in past circumstances. Does that give you faith, hope, and certainty for what’s ahead?
Prayer:
Lord, please forgive us for our doubt. Forgive us when we forget that You are with us. Thank You that Your presence never leaves us, that You go before us, and that You have good plans prepared for us. Help us to step forward in faith, knowing that You are always near. Amen.

About this Plan

With Jesus, we want to go from "standing by" to stepping out! Through these readings, experience stories of when God led people to turn "on" their spiritual power and saw the Holy Spirit move through them. God is ready to do miracles on Earth, but we can miss out on what He is ready to do by staying in the boat like Peter nearly did. These Scriptures will encourage you to step out of the boat and see the Power of the Holy Spirit move!
