Unshakeable Devotionalsਨਮੂਨਾ

IF YOU WOULD, I WOULD...
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25 (NIV)
William Carey, known as the “father of modern missions,” was not wealthy or prestigious when he felt God’s call to serve in India. In the late 18th century, he left everything behind—comfort, family, and familiarity. Despite facing opposition, cultural barriers, and personal loss, Carey faithfully followed God’s call. In India, he translated the Bible into over 40 languages and established churches, schools, and social reforms, laying the foundation for a major missionary movement.
God presented Carey with an “if/then” opportunity. If he would go, then God would show up in amazing ways.
God presents us with “if/then” moments to build our lives on the solid foundation of Christ:
- If we are dependent on Him and not self-reliant, then God will show us His provision.
- If we live with astounding faith instead of being paralyzed by fear, then He will guide us into His promises.
- If we are obedient instead of resistant to God’s commands, then He will bless us with His life-giving presence.
William Carey lived out these principles, seeing firsthand God’s provision, promises, and presence. He was willing to surrender every part of his life to Jesus. As Randy Alcorn wrote in The Treasure Principle, “Because we give, eternity will be different—for others and for us.”
When we give God everything, He will work in us and through us in ways we can scarcely imagine. Just like Carey, we are called to build our lives on the rock of His Word, and in doing so, we will see His glory unfold in our lives.
CHALLENGE:
Focus on how your actions today can impact eternity. Look for ways to give sacrificially—whether through your time, talents, or resources. Take a tangible step today to invest in what truly matters for the kingdom of God.
PRAYER THOUGHT:
Take a moment to pray and ask God where He’s calling you to take an “if/then” step of faith. If you choose to trust and obey, ask Him to show you how He will be faithful to fulfill His promises. Pray that He strengthens your resolve to build your life on His truth, knowing that each step of obedience will lead to greater impact for His kingdom.
