How to Be a Discipleਨਮੂਨਾ

The gym I used to go to had a setup where your heart rate monitor was connected to a screen above the equipment, showing you how many calories you were burning in real-time.
Whenever someone was on the machine next to me, I couldn’t resist comparing my stats to theirs. It would motivate me to push harder. Especially if they were much older than me, I would do everything in my power to keep up. Call me vain, but those used to be my best workouts. 😂
Comparison can push us, but it can also weigh us down. We risk feeling like we’re falling short. Even in our Christian walk, it can be tempting to think, “They’re so much holier than I am,” or “Their prayers seem more powerful.”
But here’s the truth:
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. – Romans 3:23-24
Even Jesus’ disciples, at times, missed the mark:
- They argued about who was the “greatest” (Luke 22:24)
- They fell asleep when they were supposed to be praying (Matthew 26:40-41)
- They were of little faith (Matthew 8:26)
In particular, Simon Peter messed up quite a lot. He denied Jesus three times (Matthew 26:69-75), and at one point, Jesus even told him:
“Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” – Matthew 16:23
Yet, despite all of this, Jesus says that Peter will be the rock on which He will build His church (Matthew 16:18).
The Bible doesn’t hide the disciples’ flaws—it highlights them. Why? To remind us that God uses imperfect people to fulfill His perfect plan.
Don’t lose hope today. In the midst of all our imperfections, God chooses to trust us. It’s in our weakness, especially, that He reveals Himself.
I pray this truth blesses and comforts you today!
Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
