The mind of Christ at work

This world pursues knowledge because it breeds power. This is why data collection is so valuable – those who possess information gain control over situations. But there’s a wisdom far greater than human intelligence that no amount of knowledge can rival. This highest form of wisdom belongs to God alone, and yet, in His grace, He gives it freely. What if the God who made all things and knows all things has made His wisdom available through one person? The Bible tells us that Christ is the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:30). He is the source and the model for discernment in the life of the believer. To have Christ is to have the mind of Christ.

Scripture portrays discernment as more than just critical thinking. It’s not merely intellectual but deeply moral and spiritual. True discernment involves judging rightly between good and evil, distinguishing truth from falsehood, and deciphering the Spirit of Christ from the spirit of the world.

Christ is the embodiment of wisdom so those who abide in Him gain His wisdom. As we practice His wisdom in our lives, we grow in discernment. And if we lack wisdom, James reminds us of this powerful promise: ‘If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him’ (James 1:5). The more we grow in Christ, the more we grow in discernment. Practicing the mind of Christ in our daily lives is the essence of discernment. Let’s not neglect this gift. Let’s seek the wisdom of Christ today and walk in discernment through Him.
