After the Cross

DAY 2 OF 15

A lot of times, our hearts question God’s Love for us. We wonder if God does care about us, if He loves us. Sure, we can read about it in the Bible, but as we go through our everyday lives and face various things, sometimes His Love seems like nothing more than a nice idea. And if we look at the places where we’ve stepped outside of God’s Guidance, it has probably been during moments when we haven’t trusted God’s Love for us. We went and did what we thought would get us love. We decided we were going to handle things our way instead of God’s. We decided we were going to trust ourselves, not Him.

But read what Jesus said: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13). His Love for us is bigger than anything we feel or face. And He displayed it when He gave His Life on the Cross.

So, take a good look at the Cross. Really look at it. The suffering, the shame, the Blood. Feel the weight of the awfulness of it. Try to put yourself in Jesus’ Sandals, the moments of intense begging in the Garden, the dreading, but submitting to what was to come. The blows He took. The struggle to breathe. It’s horrific, yes. But then ask Him to let your heart feel the weight of why He endured such hardship. Why He chose to endure such hardship. He did it because of His Great, Unfathomable Love for you. It is the Greatest Love of all! And He feels it . . . for you. It’s a Love worth trusting in.

About this Plan

After the Cross

Although crosses are common to us today, they meant something different during Jesus’ time. The cross was the ultimate form of punishment, an extremely painful form of death that was reserved for the worst of criminals. Jesus experienced this painful, humiliating form of punishment, but the Cross was just the beginning of the story. We’ll look at the significance of the Cross, but also what happened after the Cross.
