Love Your Neighbor

DAY 7 OF 7

Turning Your Purpose Outward

It’s easy to envision your spiritual journey as something personal—something you engage with solely within the confines of your heart and mind. However, Jesus clearly teaches that the spiritual life is not meant to be isolated but instead deeply intertwined with your relationships. Loving others is directly connected to loving God. The depth of your faith involves not just what you believe but how that belief inspires you to love.

Loving your neighbor is an invitation from Jesus—an opportunity to step beyond yourself, toward him and the people around you. You were created to know Christ and to make him known. Your gifts and calling were never meant to remain hidden; they were given to you so you could bless, encourage, and serve the world.

Now that you’ve reflected on your purpose, gifts, and strengths, it’s time to ask: How will you live out that purpose to love your neighbor? You can begin here, now—in the exact place you find yourself today.

As we embark on the lifelong journey of loving our neighbors, remember that every interaction—no matter how small—has the power to embody God’s love in a tangible way. A kind word, a listening ear, a simple act of service—these moments may seem ordinary, but they can change someone’s day and plant seeds of hope. You may never fully see the impact of your love, but rest assured, love is never wasted.

This journey won’t always be easy. There will be challenges, moments of discomfort, and times when love requires sacrifice. But along the way, doors will open to meaningful relationships, unexpected blessings, and transformative experiences.

So as you step forward, remember this: You are the hands and feet of Jesus. Your love is his love in action. Your presence is his presence to those who need him most. Now, go and love boldly. Because loving your neighbor is not just something you do—it’s who you are.

Who comes to mind when you consider loving your neighbor?

Where would you like to be more intentional about engaging the people around you (think of places like work, school, your neighborhood, the grocery store, the gym, a coffee shop, etc.)?

Lord, I want to love my neighbor. Thank you for showing me the way. Help me to give myself grace as I pursue loving others more intentionally, and help me to feel your presence along the journey. Amen.
