Acts - Until Everyone Knows

DAY 20 OF 28

Acts 20

Paul meets with the elders from Ephesus in Miletus. Having previously spent three years with them, it was time to say goodbye and encourage them. He reminded them of the work accomplished despite many trials, emphasising the need for repentance and faith in God. Paul also shares that more challenges await him, but he is determined to stay committed to his mission. “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God” (v. 24).

He urges the elders to care for and guide the church, warning them about those who might distort the Gospel for personal gain. Paul also highlights his own example of hard work and generosity, never coveting wealth or fine clothes.

How do you stay faithful to the Gospel Message? Paul urged the Ephesian elders to be shepherds who look after the flock, to be on their guard against wolves who create fear and division, and to help the weak just as Jesus did.

Keep caring for those in the church where you belong, whether you are a shepherd or one of the sheep! Stay away from any attempt to create factions or division and focus on being generous and caring for those in need. This reflects the Heart of Jesus.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your Example as the Good Shepherd who lays down His Life for the sheep. And like Paul, help me to stay committed to working hard for the cause of the Gospel and to always care for those in need. Amen.

About this Plan

Acts - Until Everyone Knows

In Acts, we read about the Early Church taking its first steps to go out to the nations. This happened because ordinary people were filled with the Holy Spirit, enabling them to share the Good News of Jesus and bring healing and freedom. God has designed you to walk in the same Power today! As you learn from this Book, one chapter a day, and read the Devotional, consider this question: How can I step out more to share the Good News of Jesus in the Power of the Holy Spirit?
