Names of Godਨਮੂਨਾ

Who is Jehovah Jireh?
Jehovah Jireh means 'The Lord Who Provides.' The name is literally 'The Lord Who Sees' or 'The Lord Who Will See to It.'
We first see this name of God in Genesis 22:12-14 where Abraham is about to sacrifice his son Isaac, whom he had at the age of 100!
God had asked him to do this and in his love for God, he was obedient. But don't worry; God had PROVIDED a ram for sacrifice at just the right time.
How do you respond when the Lord asks you to sacrifice something? Especially for something you've wanted and prayed so long for.
Are you willing and obedient like Abraham proved to be, or do you resist God and give Him excuses why you shouldn't have to? Maybe even try to ignore God, like you didn't hear Him.
I have been on both ends. The very first time this happened to me, I was pretty new in my faith. I had just gotten a Joyce Meyer devotional book, one I had wanted for a while. I was so excited to read it and so proud to have it. Shortly after receiving this book (I hadn't even had a chance to read it yet), my brother and sister-in-law were coming to town to visit us and I clearly felt in my spirit to give my sister-in-law this book!
She had been such a huge blessing to me in my faith walk and I knew it was the right thing to do, but I didn't want to give it to her. I wanted to keep this book. I didn't even have a chance to read it yet. Why did God want me to give it to her?
My flesh was throwing a fit, but my spirit knew it was the right thing to do and when I finally let it go, I felt peace knowing I had done the right thing. While I was fighting against this sacrifice, I did not have peace. There was chaos and confusion in my mind.
Why did God want me to give her this book when He knew I cherished this book so? And that was the exact reason. Maybe I put this book I had wanted in God's place in my heart. Maybe I was more excited to read that book than spend time with God. Or maybe He just wanted to teach me about being obedient? Maybe He was showing me who Jehovah Jireh is?
Now it may sound silly to want to hold onto a book, but God was working with what I had and where I was in my spiritual walk. Looking back, I am glad that God asked me to let go and trust Him. I am glad that He loved me enough to teach me to be willing and obedient to His voice.
God will never ask you to give something without Him replacing it with something greater!
There is always a BLESSING on the other side of OBEDIENCE.
We just need to be willing and obedient. Will you?
Over the years, I can see where I have been given many books. I have been given gifts that have blessed me in my faith walk. Maybe my sister-in-law needed that book for one reason or another. I don't know. But what I can tell you is that it blessed me knowing that I heard the voice of God and that I was obedient. I wasn't so much willing at first, but I did eventually obey.
I have found that willingness comes as you continue to build that trust in God. I know that when God asks me to sacrifice something, it is for my benefit and His glory, and I willingly let it go.
It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).
Jehovah Jireh is one name of God that emphasizes how He provides for our needs. The Hebrew word Jireh means not only 'to provide' it also means, 'to perceive' and 'to experience.'
Our Lord is the 'God Who Provides' because He is also the 'God Who Perceives' our needs!
He is the 'God Who Experiences' what we experience and who can provide exactly what we need the very moment we need it!
Wow. He is such a good Father.
I bet you can look back over your life and see the hand of God providing for you in a way that only could be God.
Those times where you've cried out to Him in need.
He is faithful to provide.
Will you allow Him to?
Don't get in the way of the Lord trying to bless you because you are trying to do it in your own way and in your own strength. It's time to let God be God and allow Him to be your provider.
He knows the needs you have before you ever have a need. It's time to go to Him first and allow Him to be your source and supply.
In Matthew 6:33 Jesus says, "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need."
Verse 34 says, "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today."
As we seek God and go to Him as His child, He will provide for us. He knows our needs because He sees them. He sees you. He has more than enough to provide for you, and not only that, but He is willing.
He willingly has everything set up for us to receive, but we must go to Him to receive it.
We must take our rightful positions of who we are in Christ and receive all Jehovah Jireh has for us!
And like Abraham, be willing and obedient to let go of the things we need to so God can give us what we need! He knows best.
ACTION STEP
I want you to make the quality decision right now that as needs come up in your life, you will go to God first and allow Him to be your source and supply.
Do what you can do in the natural and then allow God to make a way in the supernatural.
QUESTION
Why do you suppose God asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac?
What is God asking you to sacrifice?
What do you need to let go so God can give you His supply?
Do you seek God first when you have a need? Why or why not?
What is a memory of when Jehovah Jireh came through for you?
DECLARATION
The Lord is my provider. He sees me and my needs, and He is more than willing to be my source and supply. God wants me to come to Him as my provider. I take my rightful place in the Kingdom as God's chosen child and receive all He has in store for me and my purpose in Jesus' name. Amen.
