Names of God

DAY 1 OF 3

Dear Friend,

Thank you so much for choosing to embark on this journey through the Names of God. I’m so glad you’re taking this time to dive deeper into who God is and how He reveals Himself to us. My prayer is that as you reflect on Yahweh-Shalom, Jehovah Shammah, and Jehovah Jireh, you will experience His peace, presence, and provision in a fresh and personal way. May this plan encourage your heart and remind you that God is always with you, meeting every need.

Blessings,

Pastor Elizabeth

Who is Yahweh-Shalom?

Jehovah Shalom is translated into "The Lord is Peace."

We can see this name of God first mentioned in the book of Judges 6:1-24 where the Angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon.

The Israelites did evil in the Lord's sight, so the Lord handed them over to the Midianites for 7 years.

The Midianites were so cruel that the Israelites made hiding places for themselves in the mountains, caves and strongholds.

Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites would attack them and destroy their crops, leaving them with absolutely nothing. Not only that, but they also took all their sheep, all their goats, all their cattle and all their donkeys.

They came on droves of camels too numerous to count and stayed until the land was stripped completely bare! The Israelites were literally starving!

THEN...they cried out to God for help.

Let's not be like the Israelites in this story and wait until there is NOTHING left, you are starving, and the enemy is attacking you in every direction.

Don't wait to call on the Lord for help.

Do it at the first sight of the enemy!

As believers, Jesus has given us the AUTHORITY to bind Satan and cancel his plans for our life!

Verses 7-10: When Israel finally cried out to the Lord for help, He sent a prophet to them.

The Prophet said, "God says, 'I brought you up out of slavery in Egypt, I rescued you from the Egyptians and from all who oppressed you. I drove out your enemies and gave you their land. I told you, 'I am the LORD your God. You must not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you now live,' But you have not listened to me."

How many times does God have to tell us something before we will listen? I pray you are quick to obey the Lord. I pray that you will make God's Word your first and final authority in your life.

As a child of God, there is a BLESSING for you on the other side of your OBEDIENCE!

Verse 12: God sent His Angel to Gideon and said, "Mighty hero, the LORD is with you!"

How many of us would like an angel of the Lord say that to us? I know I would!

God said to Gideon, I am sending you to RESCUE Israel! And... I will be with you!

Gideon didn't feel confident or courageous; in fact he even questioned God, saying, "How can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe, and I am the least in my entire family!"

How many of us can relate to that? We hear God speaking to our hearts, calling us, then we feel our heart fluttering and then the doubt creeps in...and we begin to wonder...how can God use someone like me? Did God really just speak to me? I am not confident. I am not courageous. In fact, I feel so weak, I am afraid, I am a nobody...

How many of us have allowed our feelings to dictate our lives? How many of us have allowed our feelings to talk us out of opportunities that we knew God wanted to use us in? How many of us have allowed our feelings to be our truth?

Just because we feel something does not make it truth.

God's Word is the infallible truth. We are to believe His Word over anything else. Your feelings will eventually line up with the Word of God.

I know that throughout my life I definitely have had times of low confidence and self-esteem, and I was quick to make excuses! I am not saying I don't struggle from time to time, but I am at least better than I used to be. I am learning and growing in my position as Daughter of the King, and I pray you are also.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10...'My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness. So now I am glad to boast about my weakness, so that the power of Christ can work through me...For when I am weak, then I am strong.'

We have to know and believe that when God calls us to something, we don't go in our own strength but His! We don't go in our own ability, but His! He is the one to empower us!

God will not call you and then not equip you. No! When He calls you, He equips you!

Verse 16: Just like the Lord said to Gideon, "I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting one man." I declare and decree that the same God who was with Gideon is with you and is giving you sweatless victory in Jesus's mighty name! What the enemy has sent for harm and delay is cancelled now in mighty name of Jesus!

And just like the Lord told Gideon, "It's all right, do not be afraid, you will not die" I prophesy over you today that whatever you are going through right now you will come out on top of that mountain on fire for God, you will have the boldness of the Lord overtake you and empower you in every situation you face, you are positioned for victory in Jesus' matchless name! Amen.

After the Lord said this to Gideon he built an altar and named it Yahweh-Shalom (which means "the LORD is peace").

I want you to remember that! You take the PEACE of God wherever you go! In every situation you face in this life, you can have peace. His supernatural peace.

Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. You have the peace of God inside you. You have access to Yahweh-Shalom anytime. 24/7.

The Lord is with you, mighty hero!

Receive what Yahweh-Shalom has for you today and all your days!

Wherever you need SHALOM in your life, take it now. Shalom is your portion as a child of God.

Allow God to be the PEACE you need in your life. We don't need people, places and things in our lives to give us peace, we need PEACE HIMSELF, Yahweh-Shalom.

ACTION STEP

Every time you begin to feel like Gideon did and begin to rehearse in your mind and question how God can use someone like you, I want you to rise up and take your rightful position as a child of God by faith and begin to see yourself as God sees you! A Mighty Hero!!

Any time a situation arises in life that takes you by surprise and fear/doubt tries to creep in, I want you to remind yourself that Yahweh-Shalom is there with you, leading and guiding you.

QUESTION

Where in your life is God calling you to something greater than you?

Can you relate to Gideon and wonder how God can use someone like you?

How does Gideon's story encourage you in your faith walk?

DECLARATION

I declare I am covered in the peace of God. I am complete in Christ. I declare I have prosperity, welfare, tranquility, and soundness of mind in every part of my life! In Jesus' mighty name. Amen
