Who is Jehovah Shammah?

Jehovah Shammah is the name of God that means 'I am the Lord who is there/who is present!'

This name promises His presence. God wants us to experience His presence every moment of every day.

God revealed to Ezekiel (Ezekiel 48:35) in a vision that the name of the New Jerusalem will be "The Lord is there."

When Ezekiel received this vision from God, the Jews had been in captivity in Babylon for 25 years. Jerusalem and the temple were in ruins.

But God...He promised that His people would be restored and not only that but that the city and the temple would be rebuilt!

I know that God is not only talking about the physical city and temple in Jerusalem...but in US! He wants to RESTORE and REBUILD us, His chosen people!

You may have lived in captivity, or maybe you still are...

You may be living in ruins...

Your temple may need to be rebuilt...

Allow God to restore you.

Allow God into those places in your life that are in ruins.

God sees you!

God is there!

God is present!

Not only that, but He wants to restore and rebuild you. He is such a good Abba.

Sometimes when we go through hard times, we can feel so alone and forgotten.

But we aren't.

You are God's precious son. You are God's precious daughter.

He sees the details of your life and not only that, but He wants to RESTORE everything that needs to be in your life.

Allow Jehovah Shammah to restore you.

This name of God is a promise. God promises to be there with you through it all.

The good, the bad and the ugly.

The enemy wants you to feel alone, to feel forsaken, to feel abandoned.

Don't believe those lies for a moment. The enemy will try to get you distracted by how you feel instead of what the Word of God says.

Stay focused on the Word, and your feelings will line up in Jesus' name!

I remember when I was a child and my stepfather was abusing me, I believed those lies. Every one of them and when I did it led me to feeling so mentally unstable because I truly believed I was abandoned and worthless.

I felt like no one cared about me. Not even God. I found myself thinking and saying, "If there was a God, why would He let this happen to me?"

I felt like no one noticed me. How could no one tell what was happening to me?

I felt like why should I even keep living? Who would notice if I was gone?

Can you see a pattern here? I was allowing my feelings to dictate my life. I know I am not the only one. In ministry and in life, I see so much of this happening.

What about you? Can you relate to some degree?

You see, those toxic thoughts led me to living a very destructive life. The pain and shame I felt were so great that I remember begging God to just let me die. I was so focused on myself and the pain. I didn't know what to do. I felt as if I had no one to run to or talk to.

I now know that is all from the enemy. He was trying to use the trauma to destroy my life. He tried to use the pain to derail me from my purpose. I know he was hoping that all those lies would keep me from knowing my identity in Christ.

Maybe that is where you are right now. Please reach out for help! Don't lose hope. Your story doesn't end here. This is all part of your purpose. The very struggle you are in right now is the people you will one day minister to!

If the devil can keep you stuck in your pain and trauma, he can keep you from your purpose!

We have to know that those are all lies from the devil. He doesn't want you to know God, for WHO He is. He doesn't want you to have the revelation of WHO you are and WHOSE you are!

We need to shift our mindset off of our problems and onto The Promises of God!

Jehovah Shammah promises to never leave or forsake you. You are not alone.

Once we shift our mindset onto the PROMISES of God, our lives will be totally transformed from the inside out!

Jehovah Shammah is there with you, wherever you are. He is present, not distracted or distant.

ACTION STEP

Throughout your day, I want you on purpose to say out loud, "God is with me! God will go before me! God will go with me!" On purpose, think about how God is present with you.

Ask God to show you where He is in your situation.

Or maybe you need to ask Him where He was in a situation that happened long ago.

Have your journal and pen handy and be ready to listen. He will show you.
