Day 7: Holy Saturday

After Jesus' death, a man named Joseph of Arimathea stepped forward. He was a wealthy member of the Jewish council who had secretly followed Jesus. With great courage, he went to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. This brave move showed how much he respected and loved the Saviour. For Joseph, this wasn't just a burial; it was his final tribute to someone who had deeply impacted his life.

The details of that moment were striking. They wrapped Jesus in a clean linen cloth and laid Him in a tomb carved from rock, rolling a stone in front to seal it. These actions felt final and underscored the weight of loss, but they also connected back to ancient prophecies—like Isaiah 53:9, which speaks of the Messiah being buried in a rich man’s tomb. Joseph’s choices beautifully fulfilled that prophecy, reinforcing how Jesus’ life and death were part of a larger divine plan.

Meanwhile, as the two Marys sat facing the tomb, they were engulfed in grief and uncertainty, unsure of what lay ahead. Their sorrow marked a pause, a heavy silence before the greatest victory humanity would ever know. It was that in-between moment where death lingered, but new life was on the horizon.
