KNOW JESUS, KNOW HIS STORY: 8-Day Easter Reading Planਨਮੂਨਾ

Day 6: Good Friday
In John 19:17-30, we come to a decisive moment that marks the fulfilment of Jesus' purpose on earth. Picture Him carrying His cross to Golgotha. This was not just a painful journey but a profound act of love and sacrifice, echoing the ancient prophecies that pointed to Him as the true sacrificial Lamb.
Above His head, the inscription read, "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews." What was intended to be a mocking title inadvertently highlighted the truth of His kingship. Pilate's stubbornness in keeping this inscription—"What I have written, I have written"—reminds us that God's plan is unshakeable. Jesus’ kingship transcends earthly power; it encapsulates the eternal victory He was about to secure through His crucifixion.
The seamless garment He wore connects to Old Testament prophecy, particularly Psalm 22:18, where David foretold enemies casting lots for his clothing. In every detail, from His birth to His last moments, Jesus fulfilled Scripture. Even as He endured unimaginable suffering on the cross, His commitment to God’s word shone through.
In His final moments, Jesus spoke with His mother and the beloved disciple, John. This act was a poignant reminder of His love and care, not just for His own family but for all believers. By entrusting His mother to John, He showed that even in His suffering, He cared deeply for those around Him.
When Jesus proclaimed, "It is finished," it was far more than an end to His suffering. He was declaring that God's plan of redemption was complete. The weight of our sins was lifted, and the cost of our redemption was paid in full. This was not just a farewell but a triumphant declaration that salvation was now within reach for everyone who would accept it.
In this moment of profound sacrifice, Jesus demonstrated that His love conquers even death. The price He paid was immense, yet He chose to carry that burden for us, driven by the joy of what was to come (Hebrews 12:2).
As you take a moment to reflect on this passage, consider this: What does it mean to you personally that Jesus paid the price for your sins? How does His incredible act of sacrificial love influence your life today?
