Jonah 3 Following Jesus When You’d Rather Run Awayਨਮੂਨਾ

Rewritten.
Let’s do a quick recap of where we’ve been in our study up to this point. In chapter one, Jonah flees from God. In chapter 2, Jonah has a resurrection-type experience. When his life was slipping away, when he was sinking in his sin, drowning in the sea, he surrendered to God, and God rescued, redeemed, and restored Jonah. He was given a second chance. We follow a God of second chances.
Now, God is rewriting Jonah’s story, offering him a new beginning. What a gift. What a grace! The message of grace that we can take away from the story of Jonah is that our history does not determine our destiny and our failures do not have to frame up our future.
What God does in Chapter 3 is a rewrite of chapter 1. Where Jonah fled in fear before, he now follows in faith and goes to Nineveh. He still does not want to go, but he surrenders to God even when he does not agree. God rewrites Jonah’s story.
- Are you ready for a rewrite?
- What is something that you’ve been holding onto that you need to surrender to Jesus today?
- What area of your life do you need to fan the fan of belief in to be reminded that your God is a God of second chances?
