Psalms Streak: A Daily Devotional in the Psalmsਨਮੂਨਾ

How Long?
“How long, O Lord, how long?” Have you ever had to wait a really long time for something? Maybe you spend a lot of time waiting for the bus or train, or you're currently waiting nervously for the results of an exam. We all know what it’s like to wait for something, and it can sometimes feel like an eternity! Psalm 6 finds David crying out to God, “how long?”. His soul in anguish, pleading for healing and deliverance, his tears soaking his bed. What an image!
Maybe David was a bit dramatic, but life can lead us to desperation sometimes. A good question to ask in those moments isn't “When will this end?”, but “How am I waiting?”. Are you waiting full of confidence in God, expecting Him to deliver, to answer your prayers, and save you from the situation? Or do doubts, anxiety, and fear dominate your thoughts? As you ask “How long?”, focus on who you are becoming, growing in your relationship with God, and learning to trust Him 100%. No doubts.
GO DEEP: What are you waiting for at the moment? Ask God to help you to trust Him and wait well.
BE BOLD: Who needs to hear this? Who could you share it with?
