ADVENTure: The Loud, Noisy, Roaring, Life Changing, Not So Silent Night

Dag 7 av 25

The Adventure: How much of your life could you do by yourself? I think you’re a smart and strong person but my guess for you is a couple of hours. Maybe I don’t know you that well but I’m pretty sure you don’t buy groceries for the family or drive yourself to school yet. These amazing things come from our family. Family is essential for life. Can you imagine Christmas without your family? It’d be awful! Today we are looking at the life of Moses and his adventure but one thing about Moses is that he did not do life alone. He had a brother named Aaron. Together they did incredible things. We see here in this verse that Aaron and Moses went to Pharaoh which is another name for king. They walked up to the king of Egypt and said let God’s people go. That is a bold thing to do. That would be like walking up to the principal of your school and saying, “Release all 2nd graders!” Moses and Aaron needed each other in these hard situations but they also needed each other to know right from wrong. Pharaoh was doing an evil thing by keeping God’s people, the Israelites, as slaves. Moses and Aaron together realized this was not what God wanted. God wants truth and the truth is no one should be enslaved, God wants justice, evil has punishments, and God wants love. God loved His people by bringing them out of Egypt into the Promised Land. Moses and Aaron needed each other; they needed family. Moses’ mom also plays a big role in the Exodus story and saves Moses from death. We need our families to live this life but we also need families to tell us the truth. If your parents take you to church you should thank them. They are making sure you know right from wrong and know the truth. That God loves you and He has a way of life for you that does not lead to destruction but it leads to life. Families aren’t perfect, but families do help us find the one who is perfect, Jesus. The Destination: The beginning of the New Testament starts with a lot of names. And I mean a lot of names. All of those names are people who really lived and who led to Jesus being born. The names are a giant family tree. The big difference between them and Jesus is that Jesus is perfect and all of His family was not. No one has ever been perfect except for Jesus. Jesus was born exactly the way God wanted Him to be and that included into a not perfect family. We can remember at Christmas that Jesus had an earthly mom and dad. He had cousins and probably loud cousins (we all have those). Later on, He even had siblings. Jesus is like us and we can remember He is perfect. But we can also worship Jesus because He is not like us and He is perfect and the greatest king to follow. Songs For The Journey: Ring the Bells- North Point Worship
