Flowers Don't Worry: Journal Your Way Through Anxiety!

Dag 4 av 7

The Hibiscus flower is known to have a lot of medicinal properties and it often used as a tea that helps in the treatment of hypertension and anxiety. Every part of the Hibiscus plant is useful and can tackle different health issues. I’ve personally experienced often that worry blurs my vision and makes me come to a complete stop. It has the ability to consume me and makes me wallow in inaction. Instead of making myself useful and doing something productive towards my purpose; I stagnate and stall and do nothing at all. It also blinds me to those around me who are struggling and makes me look only inward instead of around me. Perhaps, you’ve experienced this as well? The author urges us, in Philippians chapter 2, to put others above ourselves and not look out for our own interests but those of others around us. Similarly, Galatians 6:9 exhorts us to keep doing good and preserving in it, assuring us that we will reap our reward in time. It’s easy to become self-involved and pretty much useless to those around us when we’re consumed by worry; but, shifting our focus to being useful to others around takes the spotlight off our own situation and helps us overcome anxiety and fear. Journaling Prompt: Today, let’s learn from the hibiscus flower and think about people or situations around us where we can bring God’s hope and healing. Write these down in your journal as you sketch, draw or doodle a hibiscus flower. Let’s write down a few ways we plan to make ourselves useful to those around us. You can watch the video tutorial to learn how to draw a hibiscus flower in a few easy steps. Prayer: Lord, I often forget to look around me when I’m worried and anxious. I place my fears and apprehensions in your hand and ask you for grace to be there for others around me who need me. Help me persevere in being there for those in need. Amen.
