Read and Write: Before you read 1 Peter 3:8-12, take a moment to remember the subjects covered at the end of 1 Peter 2 through 3:1-7. Peter has been urging the early Christian exiles to live holy and reverent Christlike lives before all people—their pagan neighbors, government leaders, slave owners, and within their homes. Now consider the first four words of 1 Peter 3:8: “Finally, all of you …” Take notes on what you observe. * What are the Christ followers told not to do?
