Dag 4 av 7

He’s the Way-Maker

The Israelites predicted their failure before they ever started on the journey because captivity was embedded in the core of who they were. If God promised to deliver them, wouldn’t He? Is it really better to be held captive than to face your fears of the unknown?

A friend once said to me, “The devil can’t attack a corpse. Die to your fears and you’ll walk free.” Lots of things need to die in the wilderness: our love of control, our performance-based identity, our fears, our impatience, and our sense of entitlement. Is it better to stay captive than to have your flesh challenged? No, it’s better to follow Jesus through your wilderness, trusting wholeheartedly that He brought you here, not to dismiss you but to deliver you.

Remind yourself of those promises. Say them, pray them, and then march forward unafraid. Some things will die in this wilderness, but you’re not one of them. God will purify and preserve you. He’s set His affection upon you.

“But the people of Israel had walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, as the water stood up like a wall on both sides” (Exodus 14:29). The people of Israel—who identified more with their captivity than with their Maker—walked through the middle of the sea, on dry ground. And the deep waters stood up like walls on both sides. This is the God we serve. He takes feeble, weak-kneed saints and reveals His power and goodness to them time and again.

What’s your Red Sea—the do-or-die thing that threatens to swallow you whole? Will God part your waters because you are good, or because He is? Dare to believe that though the odds may be against you, they’re really irrelevant when God comes on the scene.

Today, remember the great things God has done with seemingly no effort: He spoke, and the heavens came to be. He put the stars in their place and calls them each by name. And He knows and loves you. He’ll intervene at the right time because He is God, and He is good. It’s time to believe for your miracle.

Ponder His greatness and His nearness today. Doing so will add strength and hope to your heart. He will make a way for you.

Heavenly Father, I invite You into my impossible situation. You are the God who parted the Red Sea, and You will make a way for me! Thank You, Lord. Amen.

Scripture is God's love letter to us. Every promise He makes, He keeps. Everything He asks of us, He redeems. But that doesn't mean life is easy, so we need to be reminded that we serve a faithful God who equips us to prevail. Beloved author and speaker Susie Larson guides us through Scripture while encouraging us to feel and to trust God’s presence in our everyday lives.
