Covenant Keeping God

Dag 5 av 12

God Who Calls Us To His Purpose This was the word of God for Jacob. God’s hand was on Jacob, though Jacob was not aware of God’s higher ways. The ‘present’ was a painful experience for Jacob. His uncle had been deceiving him and he knew it fully well. Jacob was deeply caught up with the day to day issues of life in Haran. Yet, deep within, he knew he belonged elsewhere. Jacob knew that there would come a time, when he would have to get back to Canaan. Nevertheless, even in the midst of all the deception, Jacob had been experiencing God’s providence and provision. For Jacob, relationship with God was still only about God meeting his needs. Whereas, God was in the process of taking Jacob to the higher calling that He was preparing for him. Many of us are still at this point in our Christian journey where, all we want is for God to meet our needs. We think that this is all there is, in a relationship with God. We want God to sort out our present circumstances and make things comfortable for us. But God is leading us to a far higher purpose in life, for God’s ways are not our ways. Let us be assured that God will open doors for us at the right time and He will call us to His higher calling in life. We need to trust God and live for Him in our present circumstances. We must learn not to get too attached with the present issues of life but have our hearts trained to look up to Him and wait for His call on our lives. Lord, please help me not to get too attached with the things of this world but to keep my eyes on You.
