It could be that if we asked the Lord to help us stay joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer, that then we would never be lacking in zeal and we would keep our spiritual fervor! So, maybe zeal and fervor are not just a feeling, but the result of trusting God. Could being patient during times of affliction give you more zeal? Think of the last time you were afflicted, either physically in pain, emotionally distraught or mentally stressed. Were you patient?
