Men han trekker ikke ateismens slutning og ikke pessimismens. Han ser Guds virksomme hånd – Gud gjør alt. Gud er ikke et emne Forkynneren gransker og stiller kritiske spørsmål til. Gud er den trygge grunnen han fester sin tro og tillit til, hans kilde til livet.
