Walking With Jesus Voorbeeld

Mark 15:33-41 describes some powerful truths for us to understand and truly appreciate about Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Can you imagine having lunch with some friends and all of a sudden at 12noon it getting dark? And it stays dark until 3:00pm. That would definitely be a little freaky but that’s exactly what happened as Jesus was being crucified. This was a vivid illustration of a divine moment of mourning and sadness.
Jesus then says “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” Why did Jesus say this? Jesus was experiencing the feelings of abandonment because at this very moment God was placing the sins of the world on Him. Up to this point Jesus had communion with His Father but when God placed the sins of the world on Him, God had to turn away. As our Savior was feeling the weight of our sin, He was also feeling the separation of God for the only time in all of eternity.
Have you ever felt abandoned? So did Jesus on the day He had the sin of the world put on His shoulders.
Today’s Scripture: Mark 15:33-41 & Mark 15:33-34
Pray. Ask God to reveal to you His truths as you read His Word. Don’t skip this important step.
Daily Challenge: Listen to a worship song or simply sit in silence and truly thank Jesus for the moment He took your sin upon His shoulders.
