Als u door uw verbondenheid met Christus zozeer bemoedigd en liefdevol getroost wordt, als u door de Geest één bent met elkaar, als u zich over elkaar ontfermt en liefdevol met elkaar omgaat, maak mij dan helemaal gelukkig door eensgezind te zijn, elkaar lief te hebben, één van hart en ziel te zijn en naar echte eenheid te streven. Wees niet egoïstisch en probeer niet de eer naar u toe te trekken, maar wees nederig en sla een ander hoger aan dan uzelf. Denk niet alleen aan uw eigen belang, maar ook aan dat van anderen. Blijf erop toezien dat uw innerlijke houding moet zijn zoals die van Christus Jezus, die, hoewel Hij de gestalte van God had, Zich niet heeft vastgeklampt aan zijn goddelijke rechten. Integendeel, Hij legde zijn grote macht en heerlijkheid af, nam de gestalte aan van een dienaar en werd een mens. Herkenbaar als mens, vernederde Hij Zich en gehoorzaamde tot het uiterste, zelfs tot in de dood aan het kruis.
