DAY 5 | FINISH WELL

It’s not how you start but how you finish. I’m sure you’ve heard that before, but it’s completely true! King Asa started well. He was a good king and a godly man, but toward the end of his life, he stopped depending on God. The Bible doesn’t tell us why. Later in his reign, when a new threat arose, he turned to another king for help instead of seeking the Lord. When God sent someone to correct him, instead of listening and repenting, he got angry and started to oppress others. It’s a sobering part of the story, but it’s also an honest one. It’s a reminder that no matter how long you’ve walked with the Lord, you never outgrow your need to stay humble.

We're all going to fail. We're going to fail with others, and we're going to fail God. Some of our failures will be small, and some might be big. The good news is that God doesn’t write us off when we blow it. He forgives. He restores. He teaches us how to get back up. You might not be where you want to be right now. You might feel like you’ve messed up too much. But if your heart is willing, God can still use you. Don’t quit. It's always too soon to quit. Repent, confess your sinful failure to God, turn away from your sin, and receive His abundant grace and forgiveness.

Listen, let King Asa’s life be a lesson for you. He started well. He finished poorly. You can’t coast to the finish line. It’s easy to rely on past victories or get comfortable, but finishing well takes determination. It takes repentance. It takes a renewed sense of trust every day. Read your Bible and pray every day! Stay close to Jesus. You’re going to fall, and so am I. The difference is whether we get back up. Don’t let your last chapter be marked by pride or regret. We aren’t perfect, but we can choose to call upon the Lord. God’s mercy is new every morning, and you can get up and keep going today.

GUIDED PRAYER:

Father, I want to finish well. I know I’ve made mistakes, but I don’t want to stay there. Help me to stay humble, teachable, and dependent on You. Thank You for Your forgiveness. Help me to fully receive it. Lead me through every failure and help me to keep walking with You.
