DAY 1 | DEVOTED TO GOD

The kind of person God uses is one who chooses to honor God, not just outwardly, but from the heart. King Asa was known for doing what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord. Devotion to God doesn’t just flow from how we feel. It’s more than just a checkbox on our to-do list. Our devotion to God is about what we’re willing to lay down and what we’re willing to build up. Asa’s heart was turned toward the Lord, and he didn’t settle for a commitment that was partial or halfway. He got rid of everything that didn’t belong in the nation, such as idols, false worship, and wicked images, calling the people back to seeking God. That’s the depth of commitment we need: devotion that’s more than words, more than routines, more than good intentions. A heart posture that leads to real action.

If you’ve ever felt distracted or divided in your walk with the Lord, you’re not alone. Life pulls at us in so many directions, often all at once. Work, family, hobbies, habits, and entertainment can all start to crowd out God without us even realizing it. But if you want to be someone God uses, you’ve got to get serious about what’s taking up space in your life. We must stop making excuses for why God is not our priority and make the needed changes right away. No more trying. It’s time to just do it! It's a heart issue. We must make a choice.

The main choice before you is not between a good thing and God, as if choosing God means you won't have any fun.

No. It’s important to align our lives in a way that places God at the center. Jesus made it simple when He taught us to seek Him first (Matthew 6:33). When you desire God above anything else, you will begin to see life fall into place. Is there anything you’ve allowed to get more of your attention than it should? Any area you’ve been holding back from the Lord? King Asa’s example reminds us that we need to tear down the idols and reorder our lives around God again. It’s worth it!

GUIDED PRAYER:

God, I want to be someone whose heart is fully Yours. Help me tear down anything in my life that’s stealing my devotion. Give me the courage to follow You when it’s hard and the clarity to see where I’ve let other things creep in. Father, I want You at the center of my life, not just on the edges. Give me the kind of heart that follows You first, every day.
