Do you have a favorite verse of the Bible? 

Is there one that brings you comfort and peace? For me it has always been Exodus 14:14. It is one that has provided me comfort and peace through the darkest seasons of my life.

I looked it up again this morning and started flipping through different translations.

Normally I read “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (NLT)

I love that version but today the New King James spoke a little more deeply to my heart. The New King James translation says 

“God will fight for you and you shall hold your peace.” 

This reinforces yesterday’s reading about how amazing is it that the Lord can fight our battles and still have immense peace for us in the midst of it all.

When our battles are the scariest the Lord wants us to remember this guarantee. 

He WILL fight for us. It is a promise of God that is woven through scripture. 

He will fight for us regardless of our state. And He reassures us that during the battle we can be still, stay calm and hold onto the peace that He so freely provides through Jesus.

Rest in that promise, my friends.

Breathe in. Breathe out. He is for you. 

Prayer:

Jesus, thank you for the Peace that you provide for me each day. I am so thankful that you have made it available for me to experience even when life is chaotic. Help me to practice being still before you so I may access that peace and experience true rest while you fight my most challenging enemies. In your name we pray, Amen.
