SIMPSON The Holy Spirit is Holy.  Only that which is declared righteous in the eyes of God can be considered holy before Him. Our righteousness is not of ourselves, but we who are in Christ are declared righteous through His work on the cross.  As we turn from sin in repentance, we also turn to Jesus Christ in faith, knowing we are saved by grace through faith. It is both the repentance from sin and faith towards God through the forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ, that we are positioned to receive the promised gift of the Holy Spirit. Without both repentance and faith, we are not able to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Is there room for any necessary repentance and renewed faith in your heart?
