Thoughts on the message

They struggled in their faith. It is not that they did not believe it was Jesus – they knew it was Him. They struggled in believing that they could do the task that Jesus called them to do.

Jesus does three things:

First, He helps them understand that all authority is His. In heaven and earth (the spiritual realm and the physical realm). There is nothing that cannot be dealt with.

Second, He gives them a specific task. Go make disciples.

There are four actions Jesus gives but only one command:

· go 

· make disciples [this is the command]

· baptize them 

· teach them to obey

Third, He is always with them. His authority is with them. His help is with them as they raise up disciples.

This series was about getting to this point – becoming a disciple maker. Jesus prepared us through this book. He walked with us. He taught us. He gave us the message. He gave us the power and authority to do the task. He walks with us. 

These are still our marching orders from Jesus. Jesus said to “teach to obey”. This is not “teach to learn” – that is necessary, but Jesus wants us to teach obedience. Let’s start with ourselves today.

Prayer

Father, these are my marching orders as well. Help me to remember Your promise of always being with us. Without it, we will be quickly overwhelmed. With You,  we are fully capable of raising up generations of disciples. That is my prayer for me, for my friends, and for my church. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
